Two Launches, One Idea: The People Who Hold You Up

October 13th 2026 in Uncategorized

Today is launch day, and I’m a little emotional about it.

Emergent Power: Midlife Women Redefining Love, Health, and Work is officially out. My chapter, “The Posse,” is about the people who showed up for me during an unexpected life change this summer, and how reaching out to more than 220 friends, family, colleagues, and connections turned out to be the most important thing I did. I wrote it because I keep hearing the same two reactions from readers. Some say, “I have a posse, and I can’t imagine life without them.” Others say, “I wish I had one.” Both tell me this conversation is overdue.

The book is also the work of an incredible group of co-authors, and every chapter is a different story of a woman redefining what her next chapter looks like. I’m proud to be in it with them.

Join us live today. At 12:00 pm ET, we’re going live on LinkedIn and YouTube to talk about the book, our chapters, and what writing Emergent Power has done for our lives. Bring your questions and your coffee.

Then, on Thursday, something new. The 2 a.m. Circle launches Thursday, October 15 on YouTube and your favorite podcast app. It’s about the relationships that carry us through

life: the people you could call in the middle of the night, and how to build and keep a circle like that in a world that makes it surprisingly hard.

Episode one is a conversation with The Posse themselves, Liz Schatzlein, Denice Beights, and Kris Rajchel, the women from my chapter. We talk about what it looks like when people show up, and why you don’t need a grand gesture to be someone who does.

And the guests keep coming:

  • October 22: Roy George, President of MOR Lending
  • October 29: Tammi Ramsey, Executive Recruiter and Lifetime Connector of People
  • November 5: Danyele Easterhaus, Founder of Easterhaus Consulting

Over the past month in this newsletter, we’ve covered what relationships are not (a bank), what a network actually looks like (the 2 a.m., 6 a.m., and 8 a.m. circles), and why the same principles run teams and boards. The book and the podcast are where that thinking goes next. Community isn’t a backdrop to a good life or career. It’s the infrastructure.

Two ways to be part of it this week:

  1. Grab a copy of Emergent Power and tell me which chapter hits home.
  2. Subscribe to The 2 a.m. Circle so episode one lands on Thursday.

And I’d love to know: who would you call at 2 a.m.? Tell me in the comments.

Thank you for being part of my circle.

Michelle
